Creature Design, the Obsidian Scorpion

David Schwartz March 2, 2015

Here's something new: a 300-foot obsidian scorpion, fueled by who knows what sort of wild magic. In lieu of a face it boasts an ever-gaping maw of teeth, and instead of organs inside there is molten rock. To call it a member of the animal kingdom is a misnomer: the Gods' Furnace is a genuine force of nature. Rivulets of magma run just beneath its plates, spiraling around and focusing at what might be called the 'stinger', seeping through the cracks and leaving a trail of blackened glass and noxious fumes in its wake.
